    A sheriff's deputy was killed and six others, including four deputies, were wounded Sunday in what police called a "disturbance" in a residential suburb near Denver, Colorado. The lone suspect was killed at the end of a two-hour standoff at an apartment complex in Highlands Ranch, 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Denver, Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock told reporters in a televised briefing. The dead deputy was identified as Zachary Parrish, 29, a married father of two young children.

    Tiny Bird Found In Cockpit Forces Delta Flight To Make A U-Turn

    Flight 1943 from Detroit Metropolitan Airport departed around 11 a.m. ET, according to Flight Stats, but landed at the same airport roughly an hour later after a bird was discovered in the cockpit. The pilot’s decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” to “avoid a potential distraction,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement. Delta said the bird was able to sneak on board undetected as the flight’s paying customers made their way to their seats. Back in Detroit, the Post reported, workers were able to locate the unwelcome passenger, trap it in a towel, and set it free outside.
